    Your tasks

    Position Description Summary
    Reporting to the Site Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for maximizing the performance and daily activities of supervisors. He/she will provide leadership, motivation, training, and development of the workforce.
    Principal Accountabilities

    Customer

    *Establishes, maintains and promotes high standards of customer service
    • Achievement of operational performance as defined by customer contract, and metrics.
    • Executes daily customer/vendor contract requirement and identifies accessorial activity and ensures necessary documentation.
    • Provides professional environment with relation to external customers such as drivers, dispatchers, customer representatives.

    Associate
    • Provides a safe, secure, clean and fair work environment for associates
    • Provides for Supervisors performance reviews, development and/or succession planning as appropriate
    • Takes an active role in site workload planning and volume forecasting (i.e. staffing, equipment, space)
    • Organizes and leads the focus on improved productivity levels in a manner that first stresses effectiveness by improving processes and secondly stresses efficiency of the associate work.
    • Ensures the associates have proper access to the necessary tools to perform their assigned duties and that the tools are routinely inspected and cared for (i.e MHE, Scanners, printers, PC)
    • Advises Site Manager of any deviations from work plans either customer designed or site initiated.
    • Coordination of work flow across all shifts to gain maximum efficiency.
    • Identifies areas of improvement or opportunity within operations/shifts.
    • Ensures all shifts are working for the common benefit of the business.
    • Identifies and develops training needs and programs for floor associates with Supervisors.
    • Participates in safety committee and ensures compliance within the shifts.
    • Participates and ensure compliance with internal audits.
    • At unionized sites only develops relationships with union reps at floor level and guides group to team environment.
    • Provides full back up and support for customer when Site Manger is off site or on vacation.
    • Assists in the management of cost control and production targets.
    • Communicates and implements change as directed.
    • Provides leadership by establishing clear expectations and demonstrating high standards of work practices and safety conscious behavior.
    • Administration duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved.
    • Continuously monitors the performance and activities of the warehouse through the use of KPI's, with a primary focus on cost controls.

    Process
    • Plans, manages and adjusts the daily workload and staffing to minimize the unplanned overtime.
    • Maximizes quality and productivity by understanding job standards for each function, and evaluating performance variances in order to identify root cause and corrective action.
    • Participates in the completion of workshop action plans, projects and best practices sharing /implementation.
    • Collaborate with other sites to share in safety, processes and best practices initiatives.
    • Administration duties as required to ensure daily KPI performance is achieved.

    Requirements

    Knowledge and Skills
    • Post-Secondary education preferred
    • Ability to work flexible hours, multiple shifts required for coverage
    • 5 - 10 years' experience in Logistics, 3-5 years in a supervisory role
    • Ability to excel working in an extremely fast paced environment
    • Intermediate Continuous Improvement Methodology knowledge
    • Demonstrated strong leadership, influencing and interpersonal skills
    • Process management and labour planning
    • Excellent communication/presentation skills and high integrity
    • A high degree of initiative and the ability to work in a team environment are essential
    • Effective planning and decision making ability
    • Excellent knowledge of overall warehousing processes
    • Strong computer skills
    • Conflict Management
